If I had a friend who was afraid to get tested for an STD I would be there to give them support all the way through. I will tell them it is better to know than not to know. I will make this friend get tested because she may never know what else this STD could lead to. Having an STD is not fun and could affect your body is many other ways. This friend should get tested as often as possible cause they do not want to have a disease they can not get rid of. You do not want to be affected mentally, physically, or emotionally because of an STD and due to carelessness. Hopefully everyone can take care of themselves to be safe and not have to deal with having an STD or HIV/AIDS. Some STD's could lead to a person getting HIV, so hopefully they will be considerate of each other and make sure each other is free of diseases.

Michelle- I could not agree with you more. I think that people that know that they have a STD and still sleep with other people are rude, crude and outright mean. To spread a disease like that is just not right. If the person cares about you at all they should at least have enough respect to be honest with you. I think that people sometimes are a little careless. They need to understand that they are putting their life and the lives of others in danger.

It reminds me of the phrase ignorance is bliss. So often people decide to hide from things they are afraid of giving up the possibility of help... Maybe if they ignore it, it won't be true. Hopefully the people who might be infected will think of the other people they are or might have sex with and have compassion, not wanting to continue spreading the disease.

It all goes to education. People must be educated concerning STD's. They should not feel ashamed because they have a STD. It should be clear they need to be treated so they will not affect others. Early treatment will prevent them from more serious problems to their bodies.
