Taking this class was a good opportunity for me. I learned so many things throughout the semester that I just can not seem to pick my favorite one. I enjoyed all of the topics especially chapter 15, which tells of the working to support themselves and their families. There are a lot of single parent homes in the United States. Which I find it quite hard to believe, because you think that most people have a two parent household. The chapter that discussed smoking was another interesting topic. I was shocked to see how many women smoke and put their children in danger for the actions they choose to do. And one other topic that I had interest in was the one discussing rape. I was shocked to see that many women do not report rape. I was surprised to see that many of the young girls from Thailand and Vietnamese all do prostitution at an early age. I feel I am very lucky to live in the country that I live in.

Women do not ask to be assaulted. Assaulting can happen in daylight or night time. But the majority of times assaulting occurs during night time. If a woman have to walk at night she need to be on the phone with someone. If she can have someone to walk her to her car or to her house. If at all possible make sure they walk in crowds. They need to have some type of protection, for instance mase, box cutter or something. Whatever a woman possibly can do to make sure she is protected then she needs to make sure she can do it. Especially college women they are now more prone to assault than any other women. And women need to walk in dark areas and try to avoid parking in underground parking.

I think that if a person is a drug addict then they should be in a mandatory drug treatment program. By them going to jail they are not really getting help for their drug problem. They need a program that is going to help them day by day so they can get over this problem. By a person sitting in jail it is not proving a point. They need to be somewhere where they can talk about their problems and get over the fact of them being drug addicts. Some people need someone they can talk to, so they can get things off their chest. Treatment alone can help a person.

If a woman suspects that her friend has an eating disorder then I would try to get them help as soon as possible. No one is going to tell the truth about an eating disorder. If the friend denies it then I would try my best to get her some help. I would watch her carefully to see what type of symptoms she has that way I could give a good description of what changes I am seeing in her. But if the friend denies to get some professional help, I will try to help her out on my own without the doctors. I will be there for her no matter what if she choose to make a change then I will be there. But if she choose to to continue with the disorder then I will be there also. But I will tell her she really needs some help. And I will let her know that is not good for her, to whether she is eating too much or not eating enough.

If everyone lived with their future in mind I do believe that they would think about their future. I think that people would exercise daily. They will make time to exercise so their health can be in good health. If people lived with their future in mind then I feel they would change their eating habits. They would eat the recommended servings of the food guide pyramid. They would eat more fruits and vegetables. Some people would maybe stop smoking knowing they are putting their lives and lungs in danger they would think about that. They would also consider their consumption of alcohol because drinking also puts a person life in danger.

For me I feel like taking time to exercise for at least fifteen minutes will make a difference in your health. the exercise can include walking, jogging, sit-ups, push-ups etc. any activity will do that can help a person with their health. Instead of watching television or talking on the phone you can exercise. That can help a person become less risky of disease they can control. If a woman make a better selection with their food choices, then they have a better chance of reducing their risk for cardiovascular disease. A woman need not to eat many fried foods and eat the recommended serving of fruits and vegetables will also help any woman to take care of themselves.

There are many challenges when they are trying to lose weight and make better food choices. For me I feel that time is a big factor that plays a role in me losing me weight. Always feeling tired and do not feel like doing anything is also a challenge that a person could face when trying to change their habits. Patience is also a major factor because, if the results are not seen fast enough then that is a chance for quitting. Over the next five years I plan to make sure that these challenges are not a problem for me to make my health better. I plan to make sure I make time to exercise daily and eat healthier.

Blog 8: Midterm reflection
Since this semester has begun there has been a lot of interesting things that has been covered. Whether it was in our books, blogs or even the assignments that was due, all of them has captured my attention. But I think that the most interesting topic of them all is in the book chapter 7; Reproductive Tract Infections. I found this topic interesting because this chapter featured HIV/AIDS and now that is a common disease that is around. Millions of Americans have been infected with the virus and some of them never knew they had the virus. This just keep giving me insights on STDs and the possible medications that is around to help the person maybe get rid of the disease. Having a disease is something that is very serious and many never seem to realize the importance of protecting themselves until that time comes when they are infected with a disease or a close love one has a disease. Chapter 7 also tells how of the many diseases that can a person can be infected by when having unprotected sex. STDs is just a topic that seems to have my interest. I am also interested in pregnancy and childbirth, but I am not as interested in that topic now. All the information is beneficial.

If I had a friend who was afraid to get tested for an STD I would be there to give them support all the way through. I will tell them it is better to know than not to know. I will make this friend get tested because she may never know what else this STD could lead to. Having an STD is not fun and could affect your body is many other ways. This friend should get tested as often as possible cause they do not want to have a disease they can not get rid of. You do not want to be affected mentally, physically, or emotionally because of an STD and due to carelessness. Hopefully everyone can take care of themselves to be safe and not have to deal with having an STD or HIV/AIDS. Some STD's could lead to a person getting HIV, so hopefully they will be considerate of each other and make sure each other is free of diseases.

Yes, I do feel prenatal testing should be given to all pregnant women. I feel that the women should have this testing done is because you never know what could be wrong with the child you are carrying in your stomach. The women should have test done to make sure their child does not Down Syndrome, make sure the umbilical cord is not in the way of harming the child in the womb. Having certain test done while a woman is pregnant gives her head up of the health of her unborn child. You never what type of illness or diseases your child can be exposed to if the woman doesn't get her and the child tested. Being tested is the best way for you to be aware of your health and your child' s health. If no one takes better care of you and your child's health then no one will.

I want to have children of my own someday. I do not plan to be childless for the rest of my life. I feel children are a blessing from above. Sometimes when your day is going bad the children can be there to brighten your day. I am waiting on my time to have children which will be some day. I feel my time will come when it is time to have children. Having children is a big responsibility and they take time. You have to make sure that the children have your undivided attention at all times. As a parent I have to make sure that my children do not go looking for love in all the wrong places. Home is where the love begins. Love and teaching should start at home so the child does not go outside in the world and find everything that is suppose to be taught at home. One day I will have my time to raise a child but hopefully not too soon.

My first experience with my menstrual cycle was a surprise to me. I was not ready for that. My mother did not have time to tell me what a menstrual cycle was. One evening I went to the restroom and I cleaned myself to see there was blood on the tissue. I was wondering what is going on with me. I screamed into the other room to my mother to ask her what was happening to me. I was trying to have a clear understanding of what was happening with my body. So I guess I can say I had the feeling of fear. I was not able to stay a kid like the rest of my peers. I kind of grew up faster than what I was suppose to. All of my other friends were still able to enjoy their child hood, rather than having to worry about being a lady. I was afraid of the change but I now I am use to it. Now I want it to end.

As a person who is very busy. I try my best to keep up with all of the preventive behaviors. Most of all I try to stay up to date with my health. If I do not take care if myself then no one else will. Before I go to bed at night I will do my ab wheel. This piece of equipment helps me with my abdomen. I try to eat healthy everyday. Sometimes I may drift off that path of eating MC Donald's, I will come home and do my workout at home. I stay away from drugs and smoking so this is not something that is major for me. My intake of alcohol is very rare, that is not a necessity in my life. At first I was not staying up on my screenings, but now I am. I know its important and that I have to get it done. I should always take care of myself, because I will kept from most diseases. Engaging in physical activity is rare for me besides what I do at home. I need to work more my eating habits and physical activity.

I feel everyone should have access to health care. I believe having access to health care should be a right. Everyone should be entitled to have their preference of how and where they want to have their health taking care of at. No one should be denied the right to having good health regardless of their socioeconomic status. They should not be prejudged, because today everyone can not afford to have health insurance. Most individuals have to go along with what their finances can afford them to pay. Being denied the right to have access to health care, causes a lot of people to be very sick and not able to care for themselves. Because they do not have the funds to pay for a doctors visit or some bills that they will be faced with after visiting a doctor. A person never knows when they are going to insurance so its best that some people try to get some affordable insurance. The insurance may need insurance to cover them when they are sick or if they may need to have surgery. Its a good thing most jobs offer insurance to cover a person as long as they are on the job. Being able to have access to insurance is important.

Women in today's society face many health issues. There are a lot of women who have health issues but a person could never tell on the outside looking in. Health issues that I feel affect many women is high blood pressure, diabetes, strokes and cardiovascular disease. These are just some common issues that a person hear about everyday.
I interviewed my mother Judy Whitehead, she felt an important health issue in women is breast cancer. This is an issue that I didn't think about. The ones I mentioned above is the ones I felt were common and were the first that came to my head. My mom couldn't think of too many others one that affected women because I kind of put her on the spot. My mother came up with the conclusion that women her age is affected mainly by breast cancer, in the age range of 35-45 years old.
The other person I interviewed was Sheila Richardson, my aunt. Her answer that she came up with was lung cancer. Even though men are affected by this issue a lot of women are too. She also came up with an answer that I didn't think about. My aunt felt that many Americans do not recognize as an important issue. Due to the fact the others that I mention are always the common health concerns.
Yes, our answers were different. They did not think of the same answers that I thought of. That was good because that gave me another out view of the different health issues in women
